Bloomberg DDE Server is a Windows component from Bloomberg LP that enables Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) links between the Bloomberg Terminal and DDE‑aware applications, most commonly Microsoft Excel. It allows users to pull Bloomberg data directly into spreadsheets and other desktop tools so values can update automatically without manual refresh.

Key capabilities:

  • Streams live market data and updates linked cells in real time
  • Retrieves static/reference fields on demand
  • Supports DDE topics and items for linking Bloomberg fields to spreadsheet cells
  • Runs alongside the Bloomberg Terminal and works with common desktop automation (for example, VBA)

Notes:

  • Requires an active Bloomberg Terminal login and appropriate data entitlements; it is not a standalone data feed.
  • Often installed with Bloomberg’s Excel tools; DDE is legacy technology and, where possible, Bloomberg recommends using the Bloomberg Excel Add‑In functions or the Bloomberg API.
  • Some Office environments disable DDE for security reasons; enabling it may require approval from your IT team.

Platform: Windows.

DDE Server is developed by Bloomberg LP. The most popular versions of this product among our users are: 1.3, 3.0 and 10.7. The names of program executable files are Blp.exe, DDEOutputServer.exe and FMData.exe.

You can check SQL Server Recovery Toolbox, QK SMTP Server, OMRON Toolbus OPC and DDE Server and other related programs like FESTO IPC OPC and DDE Server at the "download" section.
